Dovecote Christian Bookshop

Dovecote Christian Bookshop, Epsom

The COTE Trustees and Bookshop Managers have very sadly concluded they will have to close the Bookshop at the end of March 2020. Although economically viable, as with all Bookshops due to internet purchasing, sales have been in steady decline over many years. However, the main reason for closure is our unsuccessful attempts to attract younger, probably early retired, local Christians to take over the day-to-day management of the business. All three members of the Bookshop Management Committee are adversely affected by encroaching age and/or health issues. In addition, the Shop’s Lease expires at the end of March 2020 so now is a suitable time to close the Shop.

From January 2nd, 2020, we shall be holding a HALF PRICE CLOSING DOWN SALE on all items apart from Standing Orders and Special Request Orders, where Recommended Retail Prices will be charged. We hope our customers will be able to work with us over the next 3 months to clear the stock, including Christmas gifts and cards, and be blessed by many real bargains. We thank you very sincerely for your support and loyalty to Dovecote since its opening in 1996. It has been a real privilege and pleasure to serve you.

Was opened in 1996 by Fiona Castle and is a great example of the local Christians working together. After two moves, its home is now in the former entrance area of Epsom Methodist Church in the town centre.

After the move Dovecote Christian Bookshop was re-opened on June 21st 2007 in the former vestibule of Epsom Methodist Church by Lady Annabel Titman.

Although on Church premises, it is a totally independent Christian retailer.

Open 6 days each week, the shop sells books for all age groups, Bibles, cards, CDs, DVDs, and many varied gift items.

Books for Churches, known full-time Christian workers and bona fide students, who show a valid Students' Union card, are discounted by 10%.

Dovecote believes it offers a valuable and much needed service to the Christian community in Epsom and Ewell, and the surrounding district, but the project can only survive with help and support from church members from across the Churches in Epsom and Ewell.

The bible states(Genesis 8:11), a dove was released by Noah after the flood in order to find land; it came back carrying a freshly plucked olive leaf, a sign of life after the Flood and of God's bringing Noah, his family and the animals to land.
